Looking at Cruickshanks pub scene above, count how many different types of hats there were.
How many people are not wearing hats?
These are the names of different types of top hats - can you spot any of them?
- 1.The 'Tilbury': Its shape narrowed towards the top, its brim curled up at the sides.
- 2.the 'Angelsea' had a small, well-curled brim and the hat widened a little towards the top.
- 3.The 'Bon Ton' was like the 'Anglesea' but with a bigger brim.
- 4.The 'Bit of Blood' was a thickset, low top hat, recommended for 'elderly gentlemen abut to marry young widows.'
- 5.The 'stove pipe' was tall and narrow.
